THE UMC LIBRARY

In 1960, Florence Allen and Ethel Lockhart were the first people to set up our Church Library, followed by Beulah Muncy and then directed by Lincoln Holmes.

W. Lincoln Holmes is remembered for his years of dedicated service to achieve his heart's desire, and in the process he built a vital and precious legacy for the people of the church he loved.

In 1991 a group of dedicated volunteers came to help re-open the Church Library. Special people like Millie Scott, Debbie Morris, Diana Scheben, Linda Symington, Muriel Griesbeck, Marilyn Bischel and Peg Davis. The United Methodist Church of Babylon Library was officially re-opened on April 5, 1992. The Rev. Dr. Randolph orchestrated an exciting service and made a special point of re-dedicating the Library.

Today, our revitalized lending library has an expansive collection of titles for adults and young people. How gratifying it would be to Lincoln to see those books jump off the shelves and circulate among the church members who have worked so hard to put them there. The Church Library is a lending library, and, thanks in large part to Lincoln, it's everyone's to use.

The UMC Library strives to be a library for Religious Study, Personal and Family Help, and Current Christian Best-sellers. The library with the help of the Sunday School staff continues to supplement the Christian Education Curriculum. A video collection can be borrowed from for home use. Materials on the history of our church are housed here also. The library continues to grow and move forward with the support of the congregation and the hard work of it's volunteers.

You will find the UMC Library Open Sunday Mornings between church services.

IT'S EASY TO CHECK OUT A BOOK OR VIDEO!

If you haven't yet registered, fill out a registration card. You're then free to borrow from our collection; we don't issue library cards. When you select a book, fill out the circulation card with your name and the date and drop it in the back section of the circulation box (you'll find it atop the card catalog drawers). Books should be returned within a 3 week period. We operate on the honor system; please return books as soon as you are done reading them so that someone else may borrow that title.

Please come and "check us out".
