The Rev. Thomas P. Carney grew up in West Babylon. He was an active youth in the Babylon United Methodist Church.

From 1971 to 1978 he served as Student Intern and Associate Pastor of the Babylon United Methodist Church. From 1978 to 1980 he served as pastor of the Malden Charge and from 1980 to 2012 he served as Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Greenville and Norton Hill where he led the church through four building campaigns as the church grew.

He has a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude from Bucknell University and a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary with distinction in preaching. He believes that Christ has an important message for the 21st century. He loves to lead multi-generational worship where all ages are included and participating.
